Protection

Isaiah 28:23 -29
(NIV)

Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say.

When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually?  Does he keep on breaking up and harrowing the soil?

When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cummin?
Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field?

His God instructs him and teaches him
the right way.

Caraway is not threshed with a sledge, nor is a cartwheel rolled over cummin; caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a stick.

Grain must be ground to make bread; so one does not go on threshing it forever.   Though he drives the wheels of his threshing cart over it, his horses do not grind it.

All this also comes from the Lord Almighty,
wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.

Isaiah 28:23 -29
(God's Word)

Open your ears, and listen to me!
Pay attention, and hear me!

Does a farmer go on plowing every day so he can plant?
Does he continue to break up the soil and make furrows in the ground?

When he has smoothed its surface,
doesn't he scatter black cumin seed and
plant cumin?
Doesn't he plant wild wheat in rows?
Doesn't he put barley in its own area and winter wheat at its borders?

God will guide him in judgment, and his God will teach him.

Black cumin isn't threshed with a sledge, and wagon wheels aren't rolled over cumin.
Black cumin is beaten with a rod and cumin with a stick.

Grain is ground into flour, but the grinding eventually stops.
It will be threshed.
The wheels of his cart will roll over it, but his horses won't crush it.

All of this has come from the Lord of Armies.
His counsel is wonderful, and his wisdom is great.

Instead of my thoughts today I will ask you questions.  I pray Holy Spirit will guide you - and reveal His work in your life.  I came to some wonderful understandings in this scripture of how the Lord is working in my life in areas I - in my own understanding - thought were frustrating and empty.  Take time to read the scripture and to ask the questions for yourself.  Listen for His answers.

1. Who prepares the field (plot)?

2. What are the parallels of this preparing in my life?

3. What might the various seeds represent?

4. What is the purpose of the spelt (winter wheat)?

---  Isaiah 28:25 (God's Word)
When he has smoothed its surface, doesn't he scatter black cumin seed and plant cumin? Doesn't he plant wild wheat in rows? Doesn't he put barley in its own area and winter wheat at its borders?
  Isaiah 28:25 (Amplified)
When he has leveled its surface, does he not cast abroad the seed of dill or fennel, and scatter cummin [a seasoning], and put the wheat in rows, and barley in its intended place, and spelt [an inferior kind of wheat] as the border?  ---

5. Is there 'spelt' planted near you?  Are you the 'spelt' in someone else's life?

6. How do you react to the 'spelt' in your life?

7. Ask the Lord to reveal your 'border of spelt' that you may see and know the protection He has placed around you.  Ask Him for understanding and compassion - for you may be the 'border' in someone else's life!

I thank you Lord for your Word that brings joy and peace and instructs us.   I thank you, that as we ask You - You give us revelation knowledge, You give us wisdom and understanding.  I praise you Lord, for there is none like you!  You alone are worthy to receive the praises of Your people.  I thank you for revealing Yourself to us in a mighty way.  I thank you for filling us to overflowing with you Holy Spirit that we might give to others the blessings You have given to us.  Holy and wonderful are you - Oh my Lord!  I give you glory and honor - bless the Lord, oh my soul, for He has done great and mighty things, bless the Lord.  Rejoice in His presence and worship Him.  Know that the Lord is good - trust and rely on Him.   Rest my soul, for the Lord is in charge!  His mercy and His grace are ever-present.  His love enfolds me and draws me to Himself.  He is my life!

Praise the Lord!

Father - I thank you - I thank you - I thank you !!!  In Jesus' name!
