Rejection
Rejected in the desert by the chosen few~
Talk to Moses, Father, we want no more of you.
A layer of separation, perhaps a veil would be nice
Wed rather not be fire but give us hearts of ice.
No walks in the cool of the day, no more holy hill,
No more smoke and fire, please separate your will.
Put a King before us, Lord, one who can not see our deeds.
One who will stay outside so we can do what we please.
No more pillar of fire, no more burning bush,
Turn away, my Lord, as we give you a gentle push.
Send us another preacher, Father, to tell us what you said
One to entertain us, one by which we can be led.
I sent the Word to nourish you, I sent you Jesus Christ
I sent the Holy Spirit and Hes told you more than once or twice.
You have the Spirit of the Living God, you have the endless well
Flowing from your spirit, you need no man to tell.
The burning bush awaits you with the smoke and fire on the hill,
The Glory Cloud is in your heart flowing from my endless well.
No time to listen to you, Lord, for I have your work to do.
Send another preacher, Lord, to tell me what to do.

Have you been there? I can say - sadly - that I have been. I did not
'consciously' decide to turn away from God. But I 'reasoned' with myself that being
like others would make me a better witness. Or proving to them that I was not a
'prude' would show them that loving God did not have to make your life boring. I
thought I could love God and still keep one foot in the world. I thought that by
doing that I would - somehow make others see that loving God was 'OK'. I thought....
I thought.... Read 1Samuel chapter 8 - the people reasoned that they wanted to be
like 'everyone else' - God told them what they could expect, but they would not
listen - it is remarkable how blind and arrogant we can become when we 'reason' that we
know a better way.
Praise the Lord in Is.55:6-13* (below) He tells us that our ways are not His ways
and that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. I am so thankful that He is
patient and is willing to welcome us back to His ways - that He does not turn His back on
us. Like the father of the prodigal son - He stands with open arms - awaiting our
return. Knowing that we will come to the place of understanding - realizing that our
way was the foolish way.
If you have turned down one of those paths of reasoning - listen to the voice of God.
Come back to His way - it is by following Him without compromise that we will be
able to lead others. We can never lead someone to Jesus by walking in the ways of
the world. We are to be in the world - but not of the world. Not taking part
in the world but showing a better way.
Don't compromise - we can not walk with one foot in glory and one foot in the world.
Joshua 24:15 ...choose you this day whom you will serve.... Choose to serve
Him with your whole heart. Reasoning is filled with so much wasted time confusion and
indecision. Surrender to God's way is filled with confidence, peace and His
wonderful joy! Surrender again today!
Isaiah 55:1-13
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye,
buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. [2] Wherefore
do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth
not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight
itself in fatness. [3] Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live;
and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. [4]
Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the
people. [5] Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew
not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel;
for he hath glorified thee.
[6] Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: [7] Let the
wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the
Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
[8] For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
[9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts. [10] For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from
heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and
bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: [11] So shall my word be
that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. [12]
For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills
shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their
hands. [13] Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier
shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting
sign that shall not be cut off.
